Gangnam-based DREAM EYE CENTER has produced a reusable bag in collaboration with contemporary artist Lee Kang Wook as part of its ESG management initiative. ESG management refers to environmentally friendly and sustainable business practices, encompassing Environment, Social, and Governance.

Founded in 2000 and marking its 24th anniversary this year, DREAM EYE CENTER provides total eye care services ranging from vision correction and presbyopia–cataract treatment to comprehensive eye examinations. In recent years, the clinic has actively implemented various measures under the motto of ESG management, extending its care beyond patients to the global environment.

In April this year, the center collaborated with contemporary artist Lee Kang Wook to produce a reusable bag featuring works from his abstract painting series ‘Invisible Space – Image’, in which the microscopic world and the macroscopic universe coexist on a single pictorial plane.

The reusable bag is provided to patients after surgery to hold essential eye drops and care items, offering an alternative to coated shopping bags that are typically discarded immediately after returning home. Instead, the bag is designed to be carried and enjoyed repeatedly.

The three co-representative directors of DREAM EYE CENTER stated, “This collaboration with Lee Kang Wook was planned to encourage the use of eco-bags in line with the global eco-friendly trend and to put the center’s ESG management into practice.” They added, “Going forward, DREAM EYE CENTER will continue to take the lead in environmental protection through ESG initiatives, including various efforts such as promoting paperless practices.”

Meanwhile, artist Lee Kang Wook studied painting and art theory at Hongik University and its graduate school before moving to London, where he earned a Master’s degree in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Arts and a PhD from the University of East London. He has received numerous awards, including the Grand Prize at the JoongAng Fine Arts Competition and the Dong-A Art Award at the Dong-A Art Exhibition. He is currently a professor in the Department of Painting at Hongik University College of Fine Arts.
